I am a part of this awesome little magazine that is distributed throughout Macon County, called “Thrive”. It features people, businesses and events in the community that are special little gems…who contribute to the area and who have businesses or talents that go above and beyond. I have been a part of this magazine as their photographer since it begun last summer. We’re going on our 1-year anniversary! I’ve had a wonderful time with this group of ladies (there are just 4 of us, all pretty rockin’ females!) and I hope our magazine and success continues. I can’t believe how big Thrive has gotten in just one year. I can only imagine how it will continue to grow over the upcoming years. Thank you, friends, and thank you, Central Illinois, for your support!! Check out Thrive on Facebook and check out their website when you have a chance. And if you know Kat, Brook or Joli, make sure you thank them for their hard work!
For May I got to do a little photo shoot of Jody and Joe. Jody owns her own business called “Red Carpet Promotions” in Decatur, and Joe, he works in the Admissions Office at Millikin University. You’ll have to check out Thrive in May to see why we have featured them and to see more of my photography
Anyway, I had a lot of fun with this little Thrive session and loved how it turned out, so I thought I’d share a few. Jody and Joe are such a cute (fun!) couple and not to favor any one person (or furry pals) but the sweet little Toto look-a-likes stole the shots, I think! They were so good and so darn cute…I love pooches! Thanks again, Jody and Joe; great to meet you!

Hey Val, I’m glad to see you will try to get back to blogging. I’ve wondered about you (and your health) since you quit blogging regularly!!
good Luck with all the medical appointments you have coming up!
Hi Val! I am so glad that you are going to start blogging about you and your fam again! I love seeing your amazing photography, but also love reading about your life! Hope everything goes well at you & Maia’s MD appointments. I will of course be praying!
I’m excited you will be adding more of a personal touch to the blog. I think it will be great to get others to know who you are personally. Plus I just love reading about you
Hi Val…I have blog stalked you for a long time (yes I am one of THOSE people), so I thought I would do as you requested and share a bit. I am a friend of Leann and family. I went to A/O (grad 1982), as well. I am an enthusiastic amauter. I have a Nikon D300 and in the past have taken some photog (B&W) courses at Richland… and a Photoshop course last year (which was totally worthless btw).
I wanted to say congratulations on your new photo studio!! Your recent work looks like you are ready for a childrens clothing catalog. I should have commented on your work WAY B4 now, as I think it is pretty AMAZING.!!!!
If you ever need any FREE help doing anything let me know, I would enjoy meeting you. Leann can vouch that I’m not a crazy person :^)
Rita! Thanks SO much for commenting! I’m so glad you came out of lurkedom! I would so love to meet you in person one day as I have heard a lot about you from Leann. Keep stopping by!! I’m so happy to have you here. <3 ~ Val
Slowing getting to the blogging about my family again but I will soon!! Thanks for commenting, dear Aimee!
Aww, Jennifer! So glad you are still following me even though I’ve dropped off the face of the earth! Well, not really, but you know what I mean! I will get back to blogging about myself and the fam soon…thanks for not giving up on me!! Hope you are doing well! ~ Val
It’s always so nice to get a peek at what you’re up to, dear Valley! Such beautiful work. I’m getting excited to see you soon…have you been getting my e-mails? (I have so many addresses for you; I hope I picked a good one!)
Hi Katie, I have gotten your emails. It’s just been super crazy here and I haven’t had much time to even sit down to think straight and respond. I’m sorry. Finding it hard to juggle everything! Thinking back…yes, I will bring the clothes.. And I will try responding soon to the emails…I have received them and have read them and I thank you!!!!
