Back with the cutest little guy ev-ah!

July 31, 2008 · { baby }

Little Gray is the cutest little guy!  It didn’t help that he was shirtless with jean overalls on sitting on an old tractor.  Nothin’ cuter than that!  And he has beautiful brown hair . . . and the cutest little lips . . . and the prettiest eyes . . . and drool that just kept a comin’.  He couldn’t have been more perfect for my first session with him.  We shot these at G’s grandparents, and after chit-chattin’, I realized that my dad knew the grandfather, so that was fun talking about who we knew and stuff like that.  Enjoy your photos Mama Lauren!  And thank you so much, I had a blast!

Sneak peak for G’s parents

July 29, 2008 · { baby }

This is for you, Lauren!

I’m only 1/2-way through proofing these pictures of A-DORABLE little G, so to be nice (or not-so-nice?), I thought I’d post a fave of mine thus far of G for his mommy.

Enjoy, Lauren!  You’ll be hearing from me soon!

July 24, 2008 · { children }

I first met Maddy’s parents when I photographed their wedding a couple years ago.  So I was flattered when they asked me to do portraits of their baby girl, who was about to turn 1.  Adorable doesn’t even come close to describing her.  She has the most beautiful blue eyes I think I have ever seen, the yummiest little rolls on her legs and barely-there blond hair that you know will be gorgeous when she’s older.  All things I’m sure you will agree with me on when you see her . . .

Thank you SO MUCH, Kelly, Tom and Maddy!!  Happy 1st birthday little princess!

Emily M.

July 22, 2008 · { children }

Little Emily was the cutest sweetest little girl I think I’ve ever had the pleasure to photograph.  She stole my heart when as her mom opened her door, she yelled out to me "Hi Valerie!  Guess what?!  I have my toenails painted!".  I knew right then that we were going to have a fun session, and we definitely did.  (I also knew she was going to be my forever new little 3-yr old friend.)  Hope you enjoy these as much as I enjoyed taking them :c)

sharing a tiny piece of me.

July 16, 2008 · { Uncategorized }

My niece and my daughter.  They have the cutest little laughs, especially when playing together.  They are 7 weeks apart and they bring so much sunshine into my life.  I feel so so blessed to have my children.  And just as blessed to have my nieces.

Just wanted to share a personal picture that put a big smile on my face.  Hope it does yours, too.

Have a great weekend.  I’ll see you when I’m back from Oklahoma :)

..tippy toes and giggles..

There’s nothing better than giggles, huge smiles, and tippy toes from 2 year-olds. :)

Nicole & Brent

· { wedding }

Another wonderful couple who I had a lot of fun with, this time in June.  My mom’s birthday to be exact!

Nicole told me a few weeks ago that she and Brent listed their top 5 things about their wedding and that their photography with me was in that top 5.  How fabulous is that?!  What a big compliment.  So thank you, guys.  Reading that just made me smile so big.  I had a great time, too.

Wishing you both all the BEST.

Misty & PJ

· { wedding }

It’s a quickie . . . again.  At least I’m posting, right?!  My family and I are off for a summer adventure for the next few days, stopping by a snazzy water park for a day and then driving to Oklahoma from Illinois to see my brother and sister-in-law’s new house.  My husband’s not been to OK to see where they live yet and he really wants to go.  We happen to have a weekend free, so we  are going in a motor home (cool ride!); it will be a fast trip, but a fun one!  Bottom line is, I’m going to be gone and I have a few free seconds now, so I thought I had better take advantage of it while I could!  (Another reason why I’m posting is because I can’t be anywhere else as I locked my keys in the car.  Oops.  Gotta wait now for hubby to arrive home.)

So this is Misty and PJ.  A most lovely couple who I photographed back in May.  Their actual wedding was in Florida on the beach, but the reception was back home here.  It was fantastic.  And I’m so lucky I was a part of it!  They were so fun, making every second of it just so enjoyable allowing my creative juices to flow.  Hopefully the pictures speak for themselves :)

More posts coming!

Grateful for the internet.

July 14, 2008 · { Uncategorized }

My girlfriend from Richmond, VA visited a few weeks ago.  Every so many years she and her husband and (growing) family drive from Virginia to North Dakota and they stop over here.  And I love that they do.  I don’t get to see them very often.  The last time was 4 years ago so when they want to stop over, it’s a pleasure to have them.  The last time, Maegan, their 1st daughter, was almost a year and my son was a few months behind that.  I remember Noah pulling himself up on the table trying to keep up with his new little girlfriend :c)

I met Lisa about 8 years ago on a infertility board that we were both on online.  We were going through some trying times and met each other there.  We bonded instantly once we found out we both loved fashion, decorating, photography, . . . oh the list goes on.  She ended up being one of my biggest supporters. She was a true friend.  Since then I’ve seen her 4 years in the 8 years I have known her.  She is a friend whom I’m really grateful for.  Her husband, too, who designed my first website.  (He’s an amazing graphic designer!) Never in a million years would I have thought it was even possible to meet people in a way such as the internet.  How our lives have changed.  For that I’m truly grateful.

I think I’ve talked about my friend, Alexis, here before.  Maybe not.  But she’s another one of my internet blessings.  I’m so grateful for the internet.  Not just because it’s brought amazingly fabulous people into my life, but because  it’s also given me the opportunity to share pieces of myself, especially my photography and my love for it.

Here’s a few favorite photos that I shot of Lisa and her most photogenic beautiful children (whom she now has 3 of . . . she and I never thought we’d be living the lives we are now with the children we call our own).

What are you grateful for?  Has the internet changed your life in any way?

Amy & Jim – part 1

July 11, 2008 · { wedding }

While I’m doing pretty well at keeping up on all my work for a change, I am slacking on the internet-side to it all, like this blog and my other blogs.  But you have to give and take somewhere I guess.  :)   So I had an amazing opportunity to shoot a wedding in Chicago at a Frank Lloyd Wright church.  Heather and I had a great time and I think we captured some great moments.  This is part I of II as I have a lot more pictures I would like to show :)    Hope you enjoy.

Thank you, Amy & Jim, and I wish you both nothing but the very very best!!
