Photographing a Divorce

May 20, 2008 · { me }

I bet that title caught your attention?? :c)

I really have never photographed a divorce, nor do I ever want to.  But, I couldn’t not post this autograph from Joel McHale after seeing and meeting him for the 2nd time on Saturday.

I was on my way to photographing a reception and I see Joel again.  He asks me why I was so dressed up.  I told him where I was on my way to.  And so, being the hysterical comic he is, he wrote this:

informant001.jpg

How he just comes up with this stuff, I don’t know?  It just seems to be sitting on the tip of his tongue waiting to come out.  He’s an incredibly funny guy.  And he’s also my new boyfriend. :c)  You can see him daily at: The Soup on "E!".

He squeezes me. Yep, he's my new boyfriend :c)

I love Hollywood :c)

Ava S.

Ava was only a week old in these photos.  What a sweet little girl she was.  She looks exactly like her big brother, D.  Watching them grow and really see who they turn into . . so fun as a photographer.  :c)

There is nothing quite like this stage, though . . . wrinkly feet and fingers, dry flaky skin, bright glossy eyes, teeny tiny fingernails, fuzzy heads of hair, skinny little legs, oh how they grow out of all these things so quickly.  To document these things; SUCH an honor :c)

Matt, Joel and dear friends.

· { me }

The past 2 weeks have been some of the best weeks of my life.  Two of my dearest friends, both from different corners of the US, came to visit within a weeks time, Alexis and Jennifer.  And then just a couple days ago I got the AMAZING chance to meet two celebrities, Joel McHale (The Soup on "E!") and Matt Damon (we all know who he is!).  I can’t even tell you how darn exciting this was.  It’s a memory permanently plastered in my head and will now be on display in my house . . . mostly because my sidekick, my camera!, was with me yet again.  I got, which I feel is much better than an autograph, a picture taken with Matt himself.  Two, actually.  So here is one of them.  Wow . . . I still am in awe and amazement :c) He is a sweet (gorgeous!) gentleman!

Me and Matt Damon

And then Joel and I:

soooooo meaty!

And I will leave you with a picture from when my  friend and her daughter were here visiting.  On flickr this has been a big favorite.  It is even going to be featured on a website called "Shutter Sisters" next week.  I’m so honored!

just like mommy.

Beth, Rodrigo and Daniel ~ Part I

May 7, 2008 · { children }, { family }, { maternity }

This will be super quick on the writing . . . I am proofing (what seems like) zillions of pictures right now (I now see how an assistant would come in very useful!) and so I have very very limited time.  But here are some faves from a recent maternity session.  Oh how I ADORE maternity.  I have said it before and I will say it again, there is NOTHING more beautiful to me than the pregnant belly and how a woman glows during pregnancy.  And with this spectacular family, I couldn’t have had any better results with the photos.  Beth, Rod, and Daniel . . . all so absolutely beautiful . . . :c)  Big huge thanks go out to each one of you!!  Love you!

New digital albums

May 1, 2008 · { Uncategorized }

I am so glad I "went digital" for many many reasons.  One being my new wedding albums.  Having my graphic design background really helps with this and makes it a pleasure . . . something I look forward to doing rather than something I dread.  I love to design, no matter what it is.  With these new albums, the ideas are endless.  Right now I’m working on a digital album.  I have a feeling with the bride’s ideas and my own, we’ll continue to make it even better, but here’s what we’ve got thus far.

(The orange lines signify where the album will be "cut" so that the photos "bleed" giving it a magazine-type professional look.)

Please let me know what you think?  As a bride-to-be or former bride, do these intrigue you?  Would you rather have the traditional matted album?   I can easily do both albums, but I would love to hear what you think!
